You do need to know the MAC address if you want to filter the device on your wireless router. So for the LG Optimus V, here is how you find it.
First, you need to run application "Settings";
Second, scroll all the way down to the bottom "About Phone";
Third, tap "About Phone";
Forth, tap "Status";
Find it below "Wi-Fi MAC Address".
